I was abducted
Overpowered by life to give in
Here lies my dead body
The only witness of an involuntary transition
Which was an unwelcome guest
That signalled the present was now past
Girlhood unceremoniously waved goodbye when I needed her the most
Stopped holding my handing at a time when my fingers were still curled in expectation
Left me to stand alone when the wind blew its hardest
The day I held a life
Which was looking up to me and no one else
As salvation
Helpless
In desperate need of me as a lifeline
Called me mama at the first chance it got to form words
At a time when I equally longed for a mothers embrace
Then
I knew
I was no longer a girl
